RE/Max Southeast . . .
Tony was hired to do a study on real estate franchises in New England by a major engineering firm. Upon the completion of the study the engineering firm asked Tony to set up a meeting for them with the representative from RE/Max and ultimately join them at a meeting in Waltham. They asked RE/Max for the franchise for all of Southeastern Massachusetts excluding Cape Cod. RE/Max refused them because they were not real estate brokers and they would not tie up such a large area.
However, if someone with Tony's credentials were principally involved, they would give it serious consideration. Tony was then made President of RE/Max Southeast in an offer he could not refuse with the understanding that he would open 5 new offices each year, for 6 years in Southeastern Massachusetts. Tony opened Middleboro, and Braintree. He was in the process of opening Plymouth, Hingham, and Scituate, when he was in a near fatal auto accident coming home from Middleboro. After 2 months at South Shore Hospital, another month at Braintree Rehabilitation Center, and with six months to go on crutches and a wheelchair, Tony resigned from RE/Max and is grateful that they continued to pay him and carried him on Blue Cross for two years thereafter. |
