Angelo's Supermarkets . . .

While Massimino was at Conways, Ralph Tedeschi asked Tony to meet with his brother, Bob Tedeschi, the president of Angelo's Supermarkets to discuss a position in their real estate department. Tony was told that Thomas Curtis, their Vice President of Real Estate would be retiring in two years and they would like him to understudy Mr. Curtis and learn about their holdings in 18 companies. Since the salary offered would not be adequate until such time as Mr. Curtis retired, it was agreed that with Jack Conway's approval, I would understudy Mr. Curtis and only work commercial real estate with Angelo's, and would continue to sell residential but no commercial real estate at Conway's weekends and evenings. Without compromising one for the other, this arrangement worked to the benefit of everyone concerned.

During this time, Tony was instrumental in helping to put together 16 convenience store sites and 4 supermarket sites for Angelo's. After 18 months, as Tom's retirement became near, Mr. Curtis wanted to stay on for another 5 years. Thanking Tom for the experience and education, Tony then continued his residential career with Conway, and independently expanded his Commercial career until he was approached by an engineering firm to do a study for them on real estate franchises in New England.
